Dynamics Freelancers are professionals with Dynamics related skill sets that they provide to the Dynamics community. An important definition of a Dynamics Freelancer, is they they do not sell Dynamics software.

What is a Dynamics Freelancer

A Dynamics Freelancer is a consultant that works independently of the NSC VAR network and provides services to users of Dynamics products. This could range from a SQL specialist that installs servers custom designed for Dynamics products, to a Project Manager that can manage your entire Dynamics Go-Live process.

Basic Requirements

A Freelancer is generally a single Professional that works alone, or maybe in a small company with 3 or 4 others. Freelancers are often Certified Dynamics Professionals, but that is not always the case. Many Freelancers offer services that are connected to Dynamics products, but are not specific to Dynamics.

Who is not a Freelancer

  • Dynamics Freelancers do not Sell Dynamics Licenses.

This is very important, since Freelancers do not compete, nor give the impression of competing with NSCs.

  • Dynamics End Users are not Dynamics Freelancers.

End Users may contract Dynamics Freelancers, BUT if they wish to do in house development they should purchase the appropriate development tools.

  • Large Organizations are not Dynamics Freelancers.

It is not common for large organizations to be Dynamics Freelancers, but a large organization may have a smaller division of Dynamics Freelancers.

  • Small Dynamics Resellers do not become Dynamics Freelancers.

Since they already would be Dynamics Certified, there is no need for small resellers to become Freelancers.

Becoming a Dynamics Freelancer

Why would I want to be a Freelancer

Every consultant that becomes a Dynamics Freelancer has their own reason(s) for doing so. But generally it comes down to being your own boss, without the associated problems of running a company with employees. As a Freelancer, you are the master of your own time, and when you work hard you collect the benefits. You have the ability (if you are good) to be able to work where and when you want.

How do I become a Dynamics Freelancer

First you need to have a skill that would be of value to Dynamics end users. Your skill level needs to be above average in that area, and you need to be able to show experience and references to back it up.

Why Should I use a Dynamics Freelancer

Freelancers generally have hard to find skills. Using a Freelancer to do a specific task that they do well will cost a lot less than having a general consultant do it, since the Freelancer has done it before, and thus knows how to do the job efficiently.

Upgrades

The majority of Dynamics Users are under a support contract, which allows them access to the latest version of their Dynamics product. But since most Dynamics Installations have a significant number of customizations, its is necessary to have a qualified Dynamics specialist perform the actual upgrade. This task is often performed by Dynamics Freelancers under contract to the Users NSC.

Add-Ons

Dynamics Products are all designed to be enhanced with Add-Ons. Often a company may have developed a solution that they wish to convert into a Certified Add-On. This conversion and certification process can be done with the assistance of a Dynamics Freelancer.
